MOTORCYCLE Q & A

Is this motorcycle to big/powerful for a 130 pound woman? Road Star S 1700?
Hi, I'm a female rider about 130 pounds and 5'5" . I started on a 400cc bike which I rode for 7 years. Then moved on to an 1100cc cruiser which I rode for another 5 Yamaha Virago which is about 500 pounds. These are the 2 I've owned, but I learned at an even earlier point in my life on friends and relatives bikes. I'm really interested in the Road Star S as it's the closest Japanese equivalent to a Fat Boy and I like the styling specs etc. But the bike is about 740 pounds and 1700cc .... not sure if its too big. I sat on the bike and my feet sit firmly on the ground. I also tested the turning radius of the bars and they are comfortable from a seated position for me. I can move forward and backward from sitting. If it falls, I'm NOT going to be able to pick it up but I can't pick up the Virago either. Net net is the bike too big powerful at 1700cc? I see plenty of women on Fat Boys and they are close in weight power. The 2011 2012 HD's line up are all 1700 now w exception of Sporters . Please help with some advice?

Retro V-twin motorcycle?
I'm thinking to change from 2 stroke to 4 stroke. After some reading maybe a V twin around 40 50hp, should be sufficient for my daily cruise around the town, and sometimes touring for about 1500 miles. An end shaft should be good as I'm tired of oiling the dried chains, and retro style is my personal taste. Oh and the tag should be less than $5000. Any suggestions?Virago and Shadow does have retro style, but I prefer something more like Honda CX500, or Triumph Bonneville bodies with above engine specs.

Working out power of motorcycle?
I have been told that I am now restricted to 33Bhp because I am in the first 2 years of the license so am restricted. Just wondering how to roughly work out how much this is in cc. I know there isn't a sure calculation bu the bike I want is shown in cc and I want to know whether I am allowed to buy it thanks.

Is 18 too young to learn to ride motorcycles?
I've been wanting to ride a motorcycle since I was 16. Just to start, I'm not in it for the looks, or the popularity, but more that I'm very passionate about bikes, and motorcycles, and just love them in general. Also, I'm very responsible, I know how dangerous they are and I'm certainly not stupid and am not gonna do anything stupid with it, I just want to ride it to work and college, both 10 minute car drives. I know how to work a clutch, seeing that I drive a BMW stick shift... and once again I'm responsible. I haven't been in any accidents, never gotten a ticket, all that jazz. I know the roads around here like the back of my hand, and most of the people in this town are responsible drivers... so what do you think? I was thinking of a GSXR600 or a ZX 6R. I've seen some people at my job rolling in on bikes and I asked them if a 600 was a good starting spot and they said yeah, the 600 is perfect to start learning especially if i know how to work a clutch... soo what's yahoo answers' opinion?

Engine breaking question for motorcycles?
I am a first time rider. I did my two day and have been playing around with my 17 year old nighthawk. I read the manual yesterday that said the engine should shift from 1st to 2nd at 12mph and to 3rd at 19 mph and to 4th at 25mph and 5th at 31mph. It says to not downshift from 5th to fourth until thirty mph and from fourth to third until like 20mph. I am finding that keeping to the manual seems very unnatural, but it says that if I downshift in any other way I will damage the engine. So since reading that I find I rarely downshift. I just clutch and brake, send it back to first and start from scratch. Can someone simplify this all for me?

Motorcycle questions on how to ride one.?
alright so im 19 years old wanting to buy my first bike. i wont be buying one anytime soon maybe in the next year or two but i want to know what to expect. anyways can you please answer some questions for me.1. is their such thing as a motorcycle that you can buy without having to change gears? i have watched videos on youtube on how to ride one but they all have gears. anything like an automatic car pretty much where you just drive it without really manually changing gears.2. is a 150cc bike good for a inexperienced rider like me who weighs almost 200 pounds. i want it to get me places but safely i don't wana be an idiot and speed and possibly immobolize myself. i just want to get places.3. how do you know when to shift gears? 4. in your opinon is learning to ride a bike easy? im sure with practice it is but i mean is it as easy as learning to drive a car? and yes i do you know how to drive a car safely. . " just because i am 19 doesn't mean i do not know how to safely transport people in a vehicle yet alone myself. do you know how many older experienced people get into accidents? from the simplest fking thing like cutting people off or running a right turn when not supposed too? sad to say but you my friend have no idea what your talking about. please don't answer questions if your going to be a unrealistic. younger people are just as mature as older people are.
